Miasta portowe były zawsze miejscem spotkania i wymiany towarów, obyczajów, kultury, idei. Były określane mianem „okna na świat” dla społeczności z głębi lądu. Takim oknem na świat był i jest także Szczecin.
To przez Szczecin docierały do innych regionów Polski nowe trendy obyczajowe, muzyczne, filmowe, modowe, techniczne i technologiczne oraz konsumpcyjne.
Większa otwartość mieszkańców oznaczała gotowość na eksperymentowanie z tym co nowe
i odmienne, zarówno w warstwie materialnej,
jak i ideowej.
Port cities have always been places of meetings and exchange of goods, customs, culture and ideas. They were referred to as a ”window to the world” for inland communities. Szczecin has always been such a window to the world. It was through Szczecin that new trends in culture, music, film, fashion, technology and consumption reached other regions of Poland. Greater openness of residents meant readiness to experiment with what was new and different, both in material and ideological terms.
Hafenstädte waren immer Orte der Begegnung und des Austauschs - von Waren, Bräuchen, Kultur und Ideen. Sie wurden „Fenster zur Welt” für die Gesellschaft im Landesinneren genannt. Ein solches Fenster zur Welt war und ist auch Stettin. Über Stettin kamen neue Trends im Bereich Brauchtum, Musik, Film, Mode, Technik und Technologie sowie Konsumgüter in andere Regionen Polens. Die größere Offenheit der Einwohner bedeutete eine Bereitschaft zum Experimentieren mit Neuem und Andersartigem, sowohl in materieller als auch in ideologischer Hinsicht.
